A
Message From CARLIEN PARLETT
Director of Christian Education:
Apparent
Privilege or...A Parent Privilege?
In a book written by Steve Wright and Chris Graves, the scripture,
“Train up yourself for godliness; for while bodily training is
of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds
promise for the present life and also for the life to come." (
1 Timothy 4: 7-8) Have you ever wondered if all the things that
you have fought, struggled and sacrificed for have been worth
it for you and your children? Granted ...there are many things
that are worth where we are in our lives right now, but somehow
godliness is not always first in our lives with the schedules
that we keep and allow our children to have. Parenting has to
be the most difficult task given to us.
Do you remember when your firstborn was put into your arms
for the first time and you looked into the most beautiful face
that you had ever seen? Do you remember knowing at that moment
that there had to be a world that needed to be safe and that would
afford the best for this child? My question to you is, what better
place to start creating a better world for your child than in
God's house?
Sometimes we need to re-evaluate where our priorities are and
what values we want to instill in our children. What is it that
comes first in our lives? When was the last time that you talked
to your child about God's love for them and the wonderful gift
that He has given to them? Have you put the scriptures into their
hands, taught them the Lord's Prayer and the Ten Commandments
and have brought them faithfully into His house? Is it easy for
you to talk to your child about the stories in the Bible that
can help them grow in wisdom, and stature and in favor with God
and man?
Christ Church will be offering several classes for parents this
year. I would like to invite you to save the dates and join us
as we strive to give your children and you the best education
possible. Please check online for everything that is happening
in Christian Education at our website.
May God's peace that passes all understanding be with you in 2012
