Christ Church is part of a vibrant community of Lutheran Churches and organizations that partici- pate in the Lutheran World Relief Coffee Project.
Buying Fair Trade products the first Sunday of each month is a way of putting your faith into action through LWR. Please visit the Fair Trade table on May 6th at Christ Church.
Members and friends of Christ Church purchased over $700.00 worth of Fair Trade products in April. This connects you to the small farmer co-operatives that produce food in a sustainable way.
With your support these communities invest in education, health care and agricultural improvements because farmers earn a fair price for their products, have access to affordable credit, and gain a long-term trading partner they can trust. That long-term trading partner is a Fair Trade organization called Equal Exchange. Equal Exchange is LWR's fair trade partner.
Equal Exchange supports the LWR Small Farmer Coffee Project. Equal Exchange donates $.20 to the fund for each pound of Fair Trade product purchased. In 2011 that was over $55,000.00.
Because of the LWR Coffee Project, you can enjoy delicious coffee, tea and chocolate while helping small-scale farmers in Latin America, Africa and Asia as they build a better future for themselves and their families. Fair Trade sales enables more of the money to reach the farmers and also help LWR in its mission to combat the causes of poverty in people's lives. For more than sixty years for people in need LWR has been a light. It is a light of compassion and of hope that caring people like you help to shine on impoverished
